As culture secretary, Oliver Dowden is responsible for the UK government’s policies for communication – including broadband and mobile. He assumed his current role in February 2020 at a time when full fibre broadband and 5G rollouts are firmly on the agenda. Oliver was elected as Conservative MP for Hertsmere in May 2015 and was previously Paymaster General and Minister for the Cabinet Office and Parliamentary Secretary at the Cabinet Office.
